gol.com. Malaysia secured second spot in the table in Group A with a comfortable 5-1 win over minnows Laos to book their ticket for the semi-finals.

The Malayan Tigers started the match with attacking intentions and were rewarded for their positive attitude in the fourth minute when Mohd Amri broke the deadlock.

However, Laos weren't impressed too much and Lamnoum Singto restored parity hardly five minutes after the opener.

Another Amri goal before the interval restored Malaysia's lead before Mohd Amirulhadi put the match to bed with a fine finish in the 74th minute.

Malaysia weren't satisfied just yet though and continued to attack in the remainder of the game and Norshahrul Idlan and Mahalli Bin Jasuli piled even more misery on the poor men from Laos.

Elsewhere, Thailand needed the full three points against Indonesia to progress to the semi-finals, but two late spot kicks eventually resulted in a 2-1 victory for the Indonesians.

Neither of the two sides really managed to impress in the opening 45 minutes of the game and it was no surprise that the game was still scoreless at half-time.

Things were then looking good for the Thai all of a sudden when defender Suree Sukha broke the deadlock after 68 minutes of play.

Nevertheless, the Indonesians didn't give up and experienced forward Bambang Pamungkas levelled the score from twelve yards with only ten more minutes to go.

Thailand desperately needed another goal to progress, but they were dealt yet another blow in the 88th minute when the referee awarded Indonesia another spot kick. Bambang Pamungkas stepped up again and didn't fail from the spot to help his side to their third consecutive win.
